Cohasset sits on the corner where Boston Harbor ends and Massachusetts Bay begins, and most of its area is water. The shore is rocky, with ledges offshore, Cohasset Harbor and Little Harbor cutting in, Straits Pond on the Hull line and three beaches along the bay. Inland, Wompatuck State Park and the Whitney and Thayer Woods take up much of the southwest of town.

A rocky shore facing Massachusetts Bay throws salt into the air every time the wind comes onshore. It lands on paint, glass and trim, holds moisture there and works into panel seams and around badges.
Coastal winters
Cohasset averages close to 50 inches of snow a year, and every storm brings plows and treatment on Route 3A and Route 228. The brine dries into a film on lower panels, wheels and the back of the car.
Harbour and launch

No coating does that. It gives salt a surface it cannot bond to, so regular rinsing removes it before it does harm. The underside of the car is not coated and still needs rinsing in winter.
