Weymouth runs from the harbour in North Weymouth, with its beach and yacht club, down past Route 3 to South Weymouth and Union Point. The Fore River and the Back River both reach into town, so a lot of Weymouth is closer to salt water than people think.

Route 3 and Route 18
Route 3, Route 3A, Route 18, Route 53, Route 58 and Route 139 all pass through Weymouth. Route 3 is pre-treated with brine and salted through every storm, and commuter traffic throws it onto every car nearby.
Parks and conservation land
Weymouth has about 700 acres of parks and conservation land, including Great Esker Park and Webb Memorial State Park. Tree-lined streets mean pollen in late spring and leaves in the fall.

It is strongest on the water, but the Fore River and Back River carry it well into town. Salt settles on the car and holds moisture against the paint. A coating gives it a surface it cannot bond to, so a regular rinse removes it.
It helps the paint and the wheels: brine film rinses off a coated surface instead of clinging to it. It does not protect the underside of the car, which still needs regular rinsing in winter.
