Freetown grew up as two separate villages, Assonet on the Assonet River and East Freetown to the east, and the Freetown-Fall River State Forest takes up roughly a third of the town between them. A lot of the cars here live on wooded lots, and that changes what I recommend.

What the local conditions do to a car

State forest all around
The Freetown-Fall River State Forest covers more than 5,000 acres, most of it in the middle of town. Living next to that much woodland means pollen in late spring, sap from parking under trees, and leaves in the fall.
Pine pollen season
Late May into June, pine pollen coats every parked car in New England. On a wooded lot it is heavier, and wet pollen baked by the sun can mark the clear coat.
Route 24 and Route 140
Route 24 has three exits in Assonet, and Route 140 has one in East Freetown. Both expressways are brined and salted all winter, and the film ends up on lower panels and wheels.
Rivers and ponds
The Assonet River, Fall Brook and Long Pond on the Lakeville line all run through or along town. Houses near the water see more morning damp, which makes pollen and dirt stick.

What fits a car in Freetown

Ceramic coating (Express, Essential, Enhanced). For a car that lives under trees, a coating does the most work: pollen, sap and leaves sit on top of it instead of the clear coat, and a rinse takes most of them off.

Enhanced Ceramic Coating (7-year, two-stage correction first). If sap or pollen has already left marks in the paint, the two-stage correction in the Enhanced coating takes them out before the coating locks in the finish.

All-Glass Ceramic Coating (coating add-on). Pollen and sap haze on glass is easy to miss until you drive into a low sun. Coated glass sheds it, and the rain with it.

Exterior Detail. If you are not coating, an Exterior Detail after pollen season takes off what has built up before it has a chance to etch.

Soften it rather than scrape it: sap dissolves with the right solvent and patience. If it has been on long enough to mark the clear coat, the mark needs polishing out, which is part of the Enhanced coating’s two-stage correction.
