Up on the eastern side are the Watuppa Ponds, the Watuppa Reservation and the Freetown-Fall River State Forest.

Mount Hope Bay salt air
The whole western edge of the city is bay and estuary, from Battleship Cove down to the South End. Salt air settles on paint, trim and glass every day and holds moisture there.
I-195, Route 24 and Route 79
I-195 runs through downtown and over the Braga Bridge, Route 24 and Route 79 head north, and all of them are brined and salted through the winter. That film dries white on the lower panels, wheels and rear of the car.
Hillside streets
Most of the city is built on hillsides that rise steeply from the water. Steep streets mean more braking, so more brake dust, and in winter more brine thrown up from the road onto the lower half of the car.
Forest on the east side
Thousands of acres of protected woods around the Watuppa Ponds and the state forest bring oak pollen in spring and pine pollen into June to the eastern neighbourhoods.

What fits a car in Fall River

How booking works in Fall River
