Ceramic coating in Foster, Rhode Island

Foster is on my roster, but it is a long way from Wareham and beyond the area online booking normally covers. Here is how it works.

Foster is rural western Rhode Island: about 52 square miles and fewer than 4,500 people, on the Connecticut line, with Jerimoth Hill, the highest point in the state, inside the town. Part of it drains to the Scituate Reservoir, the largest reservoir in Rhode Island, which supplies drinking water to more than 60 percent of the state.

I will be straight about the distance before anything else on this page. I am based in Wareham, Massachusetts, and Foster is one of the farthest towns on my roster. I have coated and detailed cars for 15 years and more than 1,200 vehicles, almost all of them in southeastern Massachusetts, and the job that can justify a drive this long is a ceramic coating: a full day of work that protects the car for years.

What the local conditions do to a car

Reservoir-basin deicer
On state roads in the Scituate Reservoir drainage basin, RIDOT has used a 60:40 mix of calcium chloride and sodium chloride with sand since 1990, in place of plain salt. Calcium chloride draws moisture and stays damp, and the sand in the mix is grit that ends up on lower panels.
High, rural roads
US 6 comes in from Connecticut, Route 101, the old Hartford Pike, runs east from the state line, and Routes 94 and 102 cross the town. They are long, open country roads, and everything on them, winter treatment, sand and dust, collects on a car over a season.
Parking under trees
In a town this rural, plenty of cars are parked under trees, and they take sap, droppings and leaf stains, plus the pine pollen that coats New England from late May into June.
Brine before storms
RIDOT sprays salt brine on its roads up to three days before a storm. It dries to a salt film that gets picked up by tyres and thrown on to the car before the first flake falls.
What I’d recommend

What fits a car in Foster

Ceramic coating (Express, Essential, Enhanced). A coating suits a long trip: one visit, a full day, and the car is protected for years. Deicer film, sand and pollen rinse off a coated surface instead of clinging to it.

Enhanced Ceramic Coating (7-year, two-stage correction first). If the paint already shows swirls or dull patches, the two-stage correction in the Enhanced coating takes them out before the 7-year coating goes on.

Wheel Face Coating (coating add-on). Calcium chloride and sand cake onto wheel faces over a winter. Coated faces rinse clean.

How booking works in Foster

Foster is about 54 miles from Wareham, beyond the 40-mile radius my booking system works to, and a long enough drive that online booking may not show open times for your address. If it doesn’t, call or text (774) 263-7748 and I’ll tell you straight away whether your date works.

I’m mobile: I come to you and the work happens in your driveway. I arrive at one of three times: 9:00 in the morning, 12:30, or 3:00 in the afternoon. A coating takes most of the day, so it gets the morning arrival; a detail can take any time it fits.

Foster is well beyond the radius my booking system works to, so online booking will most likely show no open times for a Foster address. That is not a judgement on the job; it is the engine’s distance limit.

If you want a coating here, call or text me with the date you have in mind and the vehicle, and I will tell you honestly whether it can work.

Rain on the day
A coating needs a dry day to cure. If rain is forecast I’ll call or text and we pick a new day at no charge; for detailing, light drizzle is usually fine.

Foster FAQ

Foster is on my service roster, but it is beyond the area my online booking covers, so not routinely. Call or text, and I will tell you straight away whether your date can work.
A ceramic coating. It is a full day in one driveway and protects the car for years, so it is the job that justifies the drive for both of us.
It helps the paint and the wheels: deicer film rinses off a coated surface instead of clinging to it. It does not protect the underside, which still needs regular rinsing through the winter.
In your driveway. I am fully mobile; there is no shop to bring the car to.
