With the Warren River on one side and the Kickemuit on the other, damp, salty air sits over most of town. It settles on paint, glass and trim and keeps them wet longer after a foggy morning.
Working waterfront
Boatbuilding and marine businesses still line the Warren waterfront. Trucks that tow or work there spend time at the water’s edge, and salt gets onto bumpers, hitches and wheels.
Route 114 through town
Route 114 crosses the Palmer River on the Warren Bridge and carries East Bay traffic through the centre. RIDOT brines and salts it in winter, and lower panels and wheels take the residue.
Pollen in early summer
From late May until about mid-June, yellow pine pollen covers parked cars. Mixed with morning dew off the rivers, it dries into a film that needs more than a rinse.
