Buzzards Bay salt air
The south of town is Buzzards Bay shoreline, cut by Padanaram Harbor, the Slocums River and the Little River. Salt air settles on cars along the water every day and holds moisture against paint and trim.
Harbour and boat ramps
Padanaram is home to the New Bedford Yacht Club. Launching at a ramp puts a tow vehicle’s rear bumper, hitch and wheels close to salt water.
Farm coast dust
Dartmouth is part of New England’s farm coast, with working farms and a vineyard. Dry farm roads in summer put fine dust on every panel, and the protected forests of North Dartmouth add pine pollen from late May into June.
