New Bedford is the most valuable fishing port in the United States by the value of its catch, and the harbour is still the centre of the city. It runs about fourteen miles from the Freetown line down to Clark’s Point on Buzzards Bay, with I-195 across the middle and Route 18 and Route 140 feeding into it. A car here lives with salt and a working waterfront.

I have coated and detailed cars for 15 years and more than 1,200 vehicles. There is no shop to drop the car at; I bring the work to you.

What the local conditions do to a car

Harbour and bay salt air
The Acushnet River opens into New Bedford Harbor and Buzzards Bay, with Clark’s Cove on the other side of the South End. Salt air settles on cars along the water every day and holds moisture against paint, trim and glass.
A working port
The fishing fleet, the seafood processors and the trucks that serve them make the waterfront busy. Road grime and iron particles from heavy traffic settle on paint and feel rough under your hand.
I-195, Route 18 and Route 140
I-195 crosses the city from Dartmouth to Fairhaven, Route 18 runs as a freeway into downtown, and Route 140 starts here on its way to Taunton. All of them carry winter brine and salt onto lower panels and wheels.
Open water at Clark’s Point
The South End runs down to Clark’s Point and Fort Taber Park, where the harbour meets open Buzzards Bay. Streets there face the water, and an onshore wind carries salt spray onto parked cars.
What I’d recommend

What fits a car in New Bedford

Ceramic coating (Express, Essential, Enhanced). For a car that lives near the harbour, a coating is the protection that matters. Salt and port grime sit on top of it instead of the clear coat. Every coating starts with iron and tar removal and a machine polish, so bonded grime comes off first.

Enhanced Ceramic Coating (7-year, two-stage correction first). If salt and years of street parking have dulled the paint or left swirls, the two-stage correction in the Enhanced coating brings it back before the coating locks it in.

All-Glass Ceramic Coating (coating add-on). Salt haze builds on glass near the water. Coated glass sheds it, and the rain with it.

Wheel Face Coating (coating add-on). Brine from I-195 and Route 18 cakes onto wheels over a winter. Coated faces rinse clean.

How booking works in New Bedford

New Bedford is about 14 miles from Wareham, well inside the 40-mile radius my booking system works to. The assistant confirms your exact address when you book.

I’m mobile: I come to you and the work happens in your driveway. I arrive at one of three times: 9:00 in the morning, 12:30, or 3:00 in the afternoon. A coating takes most of the day, so it gets the morning arrival; a detail can take any time it fits.

New Bedford is close to home, a straight run down I-195 from Wareham, so getting here is never the hard part of the day. The booking assistant checks your exact address and offers the arrival times that work for it.

A coating takes most of a day and needs the car in one place, so if you park on the street, make sure the spot allows that before you book.

Rain on the day
A coating needs a dry day to cure. If rain is forecast I’ll call or text and we pick a new day at no charge; for detailing, light drizzle is usually fine.

New Bedford FAQ

New Bedford is on my service roster, from the North End to the South End, and the booking assistant confirms your exact address when you book. I work where the car is parked; there is no shop.
It is where a coating earns its keep. Salt air settles on a car every day near the water. A coating gives it a surface it cannot bond to, so a regular rinse removes it before it does damage. It is protection, not a force field: the car still needs washing.
Bonded contamination: iron particles, tar and road film that washing does not lift. A clay bar and iron remover take it off, and both are part of the preparation before every coating.
A coating needs a dry day to cure, so if rain is forecast I get in touch and we pick a new day at no charge. For detailing, light drizzle is usually fine.
