Norwood is a Neponset River town thirteen miles from Boston, with US Route 1 running through it and the long cluster of car dealerships on Route 1 known as the Norwood Automile. I-95 has an exit here shared with Canton, and three commuter rail stations serve the town.

A lot of new cars start life on Route 1 here. Every new car has been shipped, stored and moved on a lot before delivery, and it often carries iron fallout and wash marks from that before you ever drive it home.

Both are salted state highways, pre-treated with brine before storms. Stop-and-go on Route 1 and highway spray on I-95 put that film on lower panels and wheels all winter.
The Neponset River
The Neponset runs through Norwood on its way from Foxborough to Boston Harbor. Low ground and wetland near it stay damp, and cars parked there dry slowly after rain.
Three stations
Norwood Depot, Norwood Central and Windsor Gardens all serve the Franklin/Foxboro Line. A car parked at one all day sits in the open, taking sun, pollen and droppings.

What fits a car in Norwood
