Mashpee’s shoreline sits between two bays on Nantucket Sound: Waquoit Bay on the west and Popponesset Bay on the east, with South Cape Beach State Park on the shore and part of the Waquoit Bay research reserve in town. Inland it is sandy soil, small ponds and the pines and oaks native to the Cape, with Mashpee and Wakeby Ponds and the Lowell Holly Reservation between them. The town is also the home of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

In New Seabury, Popponesset, Mashpee Neck and the island neighbourhoods on the bays, salt air settles on cars every day, holding moisture against paint and trim and working into seams.
Pine and oak cover
Up by the ponds and through the middle of town, driveways sit under pines and oaks. Pine pollen peaks from late May into June, and sap and droppings fall year round.
Routes 28 and 151
Route 28 and Route 151 meet at the Mashpee Rotary by Mashpee Commons, and Route 130 runs north toward Sandwich. None of them is a freeway, so it is stop-and-go traffic, brake dust and, in winter, brine.
Sand and beach days
Cape soil is sand, and South Cape Beach and the Sound shore add more. It comes into the car on every shoe and works down into the carpet.

What fits a car in Mashpee

Ceramic coating (Express, Essential, Enhanced). Salt by the Sound and pollen and sap by the ponds all do damage by sitting on the clear coat. A coating gives them a slick surface instead, and a rinse takes most of it off.

All-Glass Ceramic Coating (coating add-on). Near the water, salt haze builds on every window. Coated glass sheds it, and the rain with it.

Wheel Face Coating (coating add-on). Brake dust from rotary traffic and winter brine bake onto bare wheel faces. Coated, they rinse clean.
