Down by the cove and the marinas, salt air off the bay settles on paint, glass and trim, and holds moisture there after a foggy morning.
Route 4 and I-95
Route 4 and I-95 carry most of the town’s commuting. RIDOT brines them up to three days before a storm and salts through it, and highway miles add brake dust and stone chips.
Farm and woods to the west
Western East Greenwich is still partly woods and farmland. Dust and mud on lower panels scratch the paint when they are wiped off dry.
Pollen season
From late May until about mid-June, pine pollen coats every car under the trees. It stains if it is left to bake on.
