Dennis runs the full width of the Cape on the east bank of the Bass River, which nearly cuts the Cape in two. The north side has Sesuit Harbor and the Cape Cod Bay beaches, Mayflower and Corporation among them, plus Scargo Lake. The south side is a level outwash plain with West Dennis Harbor and a long run of Nantucket Sound beaches with West Dennis Beach among them.

Routes 6, 6A, 28 and 134
All three of the Cape’s main roads cross Dennis, with Route 134 linking them north to south. Winter brine on them dries into a film on lower panels and wheels.
Exposed shores
Dennis faces open water on two sides. When the wind is onshore, salt spray reaches cars parked well back from the beach, and after a winter storm it sits on everything.
