Ceramic Coating for Porsche

From Guards Red to a one-of-none Paint to Sample, a Porsche finish lives on reflection clarity. Correcting and coating it is how you get the depth Stuttgart designed in — and keep it.

Porsche paint spans a wide range — modern cars wear advanced, fairly hard clears, while air-cooled classics carry softer, irreplaceable finishes. What they share is that a Porsche is defined by how light moves across it. Guards Red, Shark Blue, GT Silver, or a Paint to Sample one-off all depend on clarity.

These are also cars that get used — canyon mornings, track days, weekend miles — and then parked as something special. That combination, driven hard and valued highly, is the ideal case for a ceramic coating.

Why it matters

Why coat your Porsche

Signature colors need clarity
Guards Red and the solid Porsche colors go flat the moment swirls scatter the light. Correction plus a coating restores the sharp, deep reflection those finishes are built around — and holds it.
Paint to Sample is irreplaceable
A PTS or rare factory color isn’t something a body shop can casually re-spray to match. Protecting it with a coating — instead of risking repeated correction down the line — is the conservative, value-preserving move.
Driven hard, parked precious
Between drives a Porsche faces bug acid, brake dust, and UV. The coating gives the paint a UV-stable, chemical-resistant layer so a summer of canyon runs doesn’t etch the finish.
Wheels and calipers too
Porsche brakes throw serious dust. Coating the wheels and calipers means that dust rinses off instead of baking on — a detail that keeps the whole car looking sorted.
Air-cooled and collector Porsches
If you own an air-cooled 911 or a collector car, originality is value. The paint is softer and often original, so the goal is the gentlest effective correction — preserving paint thickness — followed by a coating that protects what’s there. We’ll happily talk through the right, conservative approach for a car like that before touching it.
A Guards Red Porsche with swirls is a tragedy, because that color is all about the reflection. Correct it, coat it, and it looks like it’s glowing. On the rare colors I’m even more careful — you protect those, you don’t gamble with them.

Owner’s Pride

Silicon-carbide flagship chemistry, self-healing topcoats, and the only major coating warranty with no annual-inspection bill.

Owner’s Pride is a family-run American coating company — two generations and more than two decades at the front edge of surface-protection chemistry. Chris is a trained, certified Owner’s Pride installer, which means every coating is registered under Owner’s Pride’s nationwide written warranty.

SiC — not just SiO₂
Owner’s Pride leads with Silicon Carbide (SiC) chemistry in its flagship line. SiC is harder and more heat-stable than the silica (SiO₂) most coatings rely on — denser protection and a deeper, wetter gloss.
Heat-activated self-healing
The OP X and SELECT topcoats are engineered so light wash swirls and marring soften away with heat — sun, warm water, engine bay. The finish keeps looking corrected far longer.
A warranty without the catch
Coverage runs 3, 5, 7, or 9 years as a written Owner’s Pride product warranty registered to your car — with no mandatory paid annual inspection to keep it valid. Most ‘lifetime’ coatings quietly require one.

The process

How we coat your car

1
Decontamination wash
A thorough hand wash and chemical decontamination strips bonded iron, rail dust, and road tar that a normal wash leaves behind.
45 min
2
Clay treatment
A clay pass pulls off any remaining bonded contamination, leaving the paint glass-smooth so nothing gets trapped under the coating.
30 min
3
Paint correction
Machine polishing removes swirls, light scratches, and oxidation. On the Enhanced tier this is a two-stage compound-and-polish that restores a showroom finish.
2–4 hrs
4
Solvent cleanse
An IPA wipe clears every trace of polishing oil so the coating bonds to perfectly bare clear coat — not to residue.
15 min
5
Owner’s Pride application
The coating is laid down panel by panel with a suede applicator and leveled by hand — even coverage, no high spots, then registered under the Owner’s Pride warranty.
45 min
6
Curing
The coating cross-links over 24 hours. The vehicle stays dry and out of direct sun while it hardens. You get specific aftercare in writing.

Ceramic coating FAQ

Often yes, but conservatively. Original air-cooled paint is softer and finite, so we do the gentlest correction that clears the worst defects without thinning the paint, then protect it with a coating. The point is preservation — keeping an original car original — not chasing perfection at the cost of paint.
Solid colors like Guards Red arguably benefit the most. With no metallic flake to hide marring, swirls read as a dull haze — and a corrected, coated finish snaps back to a deep, sharp reflection that solid Porsche colors are famous for.
Absolutely, and it’s exactly the kind of finish that deserves it. A PTS color is effectively irreplaceable, so a coating that protects it — and keeps you from needing repeated correction over the years — is the smart way to preserve both the look and the value.
