City parking
Street parking, tight lots and shared driveways mean door dings, bumper scuffs and swirl marks from quick washes. Overnight on-street parking needs a city permit between 2:00 and 5:00 in the morning, so many cars here live in small lots and driveways.
Highway and city miles
I-95 and the relocated I-195 carry heavy traffic through the middle of the city. Stop-and-go driving coats wheels in brake dust and the lower body in road film.
Winter brine
RIDOT sprays salt brine on state roads up to three days before a storm and salts through it. Around greater Providence that typically means 25 to 30 inches of snow a winter and the treated roads that come with it.
Street trees and pollen
From late May to mid-June pine pollen settles on every car outside, and street trees drop sap and leaves on cars parked beneath them. Both stain paint if left.

What fits a car in Providence
