Dense streets
At this density, driveways are short and street parking is common. That brings door dings, bumper scuffs and the fine swirl marks that quick washes leave behind.
Route 146 and Route 7
Route 146 (the Eddie Dowling Highway here) and Route 7 (Douglas Avenue) carry daily traffic toward Providence. Stop-and-go miles add brake dust and road film.
Snow and brine
Greater Providence averages 25 to 30 inches of snow a year, and RIDOT sprays brine on state roads up to three days before a storm. The residue builds on lower panels and wheels.
Pollen
From late May until about mid-June, yellow pine pollen covers parked cars and bakes on if it is left in the sun.
