I-95 and I-295 both run through the city, along with US Route 1. MassDOT pre-treats with brine and salts through storms, and a car that commutes toward Providence or Boston carries that film home every winter day.
Commuter lot parking
Attleboro and South Attleboro stations mean a lot of cars sitting in open lots all day, in sun and pollen, collecting bird droppings that do their damage in the heat.
Ten Mile and Bungay rivers
The Ten Mile River runs through the city, fed by the Bungay, alongside the Manchester Pond Reservoir. Low ground near them stays damp, and so do cars parked there.
Conservation land
More than 600 acres of conservation woods, from the Bungay River area in the north to Oak Hill in the south, means plenty of streets under trees: oak pollen in spring, pine pollen into June, wet leaves in the fall.
